One Appointment Crowns and Inlays

When a tooth has a problem that is more extensive than can be fixed with a simple filling, crowns and inlays can often offer a solution to save your tooth. Crowns cover the entire outer surface of your tooth, giving it a completely natural look plus the strength needed to chew naturally and smile with confidence. What’s more, we can prepare, design, fabricate, and deliver your crown in a single visit thanks to our amazing CEREC system. Most offices require you to leave with a temporary crown for several weeks, then make a second appointment to put the crown in your mouth. That means two times away from work or school, two times to get numb, plus the time with the plastic temporary. Single visit crowns offer a much better experience, and there is no metal sub-structure to make a dark line near the gum line. Call today to schedule your one visit crown at (501) 666-1188

Veneers

We have so many people who come to us with discolored, worn, uneven, or chipped teeth. Many have given up hope that they can regain the youthful, attractive smile that they see on the pages of magazines or on TV. But with the help of well-designed veneers we give them a smile that is absolutely beautiful, and many times we do it in a single visit. By placing a thin porcelain covering on the outer surface of your teeth we can change the color, shape, alignment, spacing, and texture of your teeth. They can go from awful to awesome with very little effort on your part. At your consultation visit you can bring photos of people who have teeth that you like. They can be pictures of you at an earlier date, or even models and movie stars with a great smile. We will discuss your goals for treatment, including color, shape, and alignment, then create a mock treatment for you to approve before we actually begin treatment. Then, once we like the way the case looks, we can schedule your veneers. The number or teeth that require treatment varies from case to case, so call us to customize your treatment and get a smile you will love. (501) 666-1188.

Sedation Dentistry

If you have put off dental treatment because the thought of it just scares you silly, then sedation dentistry may be just the thing you need. We evaluate your medical condition, and prescribe medications that will allow you to get any needed dental treatment without fear or concern. You can wake up after your appointment with little if any awareness that any treatment has even occurred. Sedation dentistry allows even extremely phobic patients to get excellent dental care without stress or anxiety. Sound interesting? Call today for a consultation at (501) 666-1188.

Dental Implants

Teeth can be lost for many reasons. Some lose a tooth due to an accident, others lose teeth because of decay or gum disease. In any case, a missing tooth looks bad and makes it harder to chew and eat. For people who have lost teeth we have several ways to replace what’s missing. The best way is to put back what you have lost with as much permanence as possible. Dental implants do just that. Dental implants act like replacement roots for lost teeth, allowing us to attach individual crowns, bridges, dentures, or partials to your jaw bones, giving you back the smile you want. In many instances we can place implants and move immediately to a final restoration within days or weeks. Most implant cases are remarkably pain free and comfortable throughout treatment. Implants prevent the bone loss that comes with missing teeth, and they are the most natural feeling method we have to replace a tooth that is lost. If you have lost one or more teeth, and want to have the best looking, most naturally functioning teeth possible, call for a consultation with Dr. Mangan at (501) 666-1188.

Invisalign Orthodontic Treatment

Straight teeth are a wonderful way to enhance a person’s looks. And getting your teeth straight without the unsightly wires and brackets associated with traditional orthodontic treatment is even more wonderful! We use Invisalign® to get amazing results for our patients who want a beautiful smile. Invisalign® can treat spaced, tipped, crowded or uneven teeth to give a beautiful smile and a comfortable bite. If you are bothered by the alignment of your teeth in any way, Dr. Mangan offers a free, no obligation consultation to help determine if Invisalign® can give you the smile you dream of. Bleaching

There was a time when it was assumed that teeth would just get darker over time, eventually leaving you with stained, dark, old looking teeth. Then it was discovered that many of those stains could be removed, returning your smile to a whiter, more attractive state. Now we all expect to have movie star white teeth for life. So how do we get those white teeth?

There are three main methods of bleaching teeth: 1. Over the counter products like Crest White Strips (several others brands are out there as well), 2. Tray bleaching with custom trays that fit your teeth and a bleaching gel (many brands and strengths available), and 3. In-office bleaching (power bleaching) that gets your teeth as white as possible in a single visit (Again, many brands available. Some are more popular because they spend more advertising money, but independent studies show that they all work about the same over time).

Here’s the interesting part—they all have the potential to get teeth as white as they can get using any other method. The difference is how much time and effort you will have to invest to get the desired result. If you want whiter teeth, but don’t know which method is best for you, give us a call to schedule a consultation. We’ll give you a realistic solution to fit your need. (501) 666-1188

Treatment of TMJ Disorders

People with an array of painful symptoms get life changing relieve with proper treatment of TMJ disorders. TMJ stands for Temporo-Mandibular Joint, which is the only dual hinge joint in the human body, located where the jaw attaches to the skull. The disorders of the TMJ can show up as limited opening of the jaw, pain on opening or biting, shooting pain that radiates to the skull, headaches, or earaches. If you have symptoms that seem to fit that profile, or if you would like a more comprehensive assessment, please call the office for a TMJ evaluation. We will give you a diagnosis and a treatment plan that may free you from debilitating symptoms that have hounded you for too long.

Root Canals

If the very words “root canal” makes you cringe a little, you are not alone. Many times the media uses the root canal for the gold standard by which all pain must be judged. But the truth is, a root canal procedure almost always relieves pain that was already there, and usually does not hurt at all on its own.

Tooth pain can be remarkably bad, and many patients tell us that their toothaches are the worst pain they have ever experienced. Teeth have very tender nerves deep inside, and when one of those nerves becomes badly inflamed or infected, the resulting pain is almost unbearable. Fortunately, teeth can get along quite nicely without that nerve, and that’s where Root Canal Therapy comes to the rescue.

It starts with local anesthetic to eliminate the pain. Then, through a small opening in the chewing surface of the tooth we get rid of the infected nerve and thoroughly clean the inside of the tooth. Then we fill up the canal where the nerve once lived and seal it up to prevent future infection. When you are finished with the root canal you should get a crown to strengthen the tooth so you can function on it for years to come without pain.

If you have a toothache, or if you have been told you need a root canal, call the office today to make an appointment. (501) 666-1188.

Metal-Free Fillings

Our office only places metal-free fillings. For smaller fillings we typically place composite resin fillings that look just like tooth structure. For larger fillings we may suggest switching to a porcelain inlay or onlay in order to achieve adequate strength for tough chewing. Both of these options have very good track records for longevity and beauty. Neither of them use mercury or any other metal.

Mercury-Silver amalgam fillings have been common for two centuries, and they have a good track record for lasting a long time and for being relatively inexpensive compared to other materials. But three main factors have steered the public away from these fillings in recent years.

First, metal fillings are ugly. They don’t blend with the natural color of teeth, and they get darker over time. People are more aesthetically aware now, and most people don’t want to darken their smile with metal fillings.

Second, there are lingering concerns about using mercury in the human body because we know it is toxic in its native form. Although numerous studies have confirmed that amalgam is safe for use as a filling material, the public has repeatedly called out for a material with less toxicity.

Thirdly, there has been a concern about the environmental effect of amalgam use. Mercury in our waste water could ultimately become mercury in our drinking water. Certainly there must be a better alternative. We feel that the use of the latest generation of ceramic and resin based materials absolutely meets the requirements of our patients.

Periodontal Therapy (treatment of gum disease)

Gum disease is one of the most prevalent diseases in adults today. It can be either gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) or periodontitis (an inflammation or infection of the supporting structures around the teeth). You may notice it as red, tender gums, bleeding when you brush or floss, or as loose teeth or persistent bad breath. If left untreated, gum disease can progressively destroy the attachment between the teeth and bone, resulting in loose teeth, and eventually tooth loss. Periodontal disease is also associated with heart disease, diabetes, premature labor and low birth weight.

In the past it was assumed that we would all lose our teeth when we got old, but we now know that tooth loss due to gum disease is preventable with good home care and regular professional cleanings. That is very important, because keeping our teeth dramatically improves our sense of satisfaction with life, our ability to chew and enjoy food, and our self image as young and vital human beings. We should all strive to keep our teeth healthy for our entire life.

With that in mind, our office carefully examines each patient for signs of periodontal disease at each preventive care visit, and we do everything possible to assure our patients prevent the disease from taking hold. When we do find a problem, we try to aggressively treat the problem while it is in early, reversible stages. For those who come to us with gum disease we do our best to stop if not reverse the negative effects of the disease.
